Criminal penalties include up to one year in jail along with significant fines and costs. Driver’s license sanctions also include the loss of certain driving privileges for six months along with administrative penalty payments to the Secretary of State for two years. A drug offense conviction would be on your son’s record. There are provisions in the law, which are not automatic, that allow no conviction to appear on his record. Call me for further explanation.
