There is nothing wrong per se with a court appointed attorney. However, they typically deal with several hundred cases per year and do not have the luxury to give your brother’s case the attention it needs and deserves. A retained attorney will give your brother’s case highly personalized attention and will diligently fight for each and every one his rights.
