David G. Moore

David is a trial attorney. He practices in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury and family law.

David is a graduate of Arizona State University where he majored in history. He earned his doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

David has extensive litigation experience as a prosecutor and in private practice. He is married to Melissa and has two daughters and one son.

Ten Questions for David

1. The police have called and want to speak with my son about alleged criminal activity. The detective involved seems really nice and has indicated that he just needs to clear some things up with an interview with him, and my son has told me he is not guilty. I don’t need an attorney at this stage, do I?

2. My brother has been charged with a crime and has been assigned a court appointed attorney . . . there is no need for a retained attorney then, is there?

3. I’ve never had any problems with the law before, but I had a few too many drinks at an office party and was arrested for drunk driving. My Breath Alcohol Content was .09. Should I just go in myself and plea to get this thing over with quickly and quietly?

4. When I was 20 I was convicted of a felony. I was young and foolish then, but since I’ve had no problems with law and have led an exemplary life. Some friends want to go deer hunting in the UP. Can I hunt as well?

5. As I was walking into the local grocery store I slipped and fell on a puddle of water that was right in front of the entrance and broke my arm. The people from the store put me in contact with their insurance adjuster. Do I need an attorney at this point?

6. My former spouse received full custody of the children in our divorce. Prior attempts to modify custody have failed. Now she is co-habiting with a registered sex-offender. What should I do?

7. My fifteen year old daughter got in a fight at school with another girl, and, now criminal charges have been authorized for assault against her. My daughter is a good student and plans on going to college to be an elementary school teacher; this type of behavior is an aberration. What should I do?

8. My wife and I have been struggling with household finances due to my temporary lay-off and the medical bills incurred from the long-term illness of our youngest son. Emotions boiled over one night and our verbal argument turned physical when I pushed her against the wall. The police were called and I was arrested for domestic violence. I feel horrible as this has never happened before, and I want to see her and I know she wants to see me in spite of the court’s no contact order. Should I just encourage her to have the charges dismissed so that we can get back on with our lives?

9. Our son is attending a college in southwest Michigan. The car he was riding in was pulled over and marijuana was discovered. Now he is facing a misdemeanor conviction for possession of marijuana. What are the ramifications?

10. I am being investigated for a hit and run accident resulting in death. What should I do?
